This week we feel we got the comparative volumes a lot better and so we haven’t edited the audio file (as that brings in other problems with hiss or voice distortion). Let us know if it is listenable.

We discuss the execrably poor week for our teams, the horror of the Swans/Port match and the ugliness of the Hawks/Saints game of catenacchio. For our team of the week, Puma Pants, we discuss Jared Brennan, Ricky Petterd, Michael Rischitelli, Adam Cooney, Matt Rosa, Daniel Kerr, Hamish MacIntosh, Dean Cox, Brett Ebert, Nathan Krakouer and Joel Selwood.

Moving on to discussion of Round 8, we cover Leigh Fisher’s marvellous score, plus Jed Adcock, Jonathan Griffin, Ben Hudson, Nathan Bock, Robert Campbell, Simon Taylor, Brett Burton and Luke Jericho. We use grimlock’s FFGenie program to try to identify players whose price has leveled out after a big change: Adam Goodes, Mark Johnson, Shaun Burgoyne, Peter Burgoyne, Matt Campbell, Daniel Kerr again plus Jesse W. Smith. Monty whinges about Xavier Clarke and Molly agrees with his new strategy of avoiding Saints players altogether! Following on from this week’s horrible scores, Monty lists a few more of the rules he’s going to impose on himself for next year, including changing his rookie strategy, and choosing players purely for fantasy reasons, no matter how cheap and useless they are as real AFL players. Molly brings up Campbell Brown as an example of someone who you wouldn’t pick up for fantasy despite his obvious quality. We also discuss the possible effects of any new anti-flooding rules for fantasy scoring.

After the Boys On The Bubble feature, we put Make Or Break on the backburner and introduce a new Crack The Ton segment, where we try to predict whether players who scored somewhere above 90 last week can break 100 this week, for the purposes of choosing a captain:
Jason Winderlich vs Richmond: Molly says yes, m0nty says yes.
Daniel Cross vs Sydney: Molly says no, m0nty says no.
Brad Johnson vs Sydney: Molly says no, m0nty says yes.
Jonathan Brown vs Collingwood: Molly says yes, m0nty says no.
Jobe Watson vs Richmond: Molly says no, m0nty says yes.
Shane Crawford vs West Coast: Molly says no, m0nty says yes.
Chris Judd vs Hawthorn: Molly says yes, m0nty says yes.
Andrew Carrazzo vs Adelaide: Molly says yes, m0nty says yes.
Leigh Fisher vs Fremantle: Molly says no, m0nty says no.

Don’t forget to send in your teams for analysis. If you can include your trade history, that really adds to the analysis (as I hope comes out in this show). Feedback is very much enjoyed (good or bad).

We start out by talking about how fantasy football is growing every week, so much so that AFL footballers like Sam Mitchell are talking openly about their fantasy teams - though none of the players seems to make good fantasy coaches, apart from ex-Docker rookie Joe Krieger who did well in 2005. We mention the Coca-Cola Dream Team page, which FanFooty blog poster Tom Nightingale is contributing to now.

Onto the games, and of course both being Hawk supporters we spend a lot of time discussing just how good Lance Franklin is! After we finish with the Buddy love, we discuss the Geelong game where most Cats players racked up the points, but Paul Chapman couldn’t cash in on his stellar start. Then we go on to talk about round 6 and cover Dean Cox, Justin Koschitzke, Nigel Lappin, Richard Hadley, Brett Deledio, Daniel Kerr, Matt Priddis, Quinten Lynch, Dustin Fletcher, Bryce Gibbs, Marc Murphy, Lance Whitnall, Xavier Clarke, Adam Goodes and Barry Hall.

Moving on to trade talk, Molly was happy with his pickup of Aaron Davey, and both of us were happy that Clinton Young played. M0nty was crying over trading Kosi out for Warren Tredrea. On the chopping block this week is Nathan Bock, who has been shifted to full forward and his numbers are suffering, with others keeping a baleful eye on Jed Adcock.

In EliteDre@mTe@mers league news, big shock revelation: the EDT private forum had a terrible security breach! The boys from the Mount Scopus high school were accused as being the culprits. Skulduggery abounds, and head/s have rolled. In the words of Molly: “Shame, shame shame.”

Back to player analysis, we talk about Nick Riewoldt, and discuss the underappreciated statistic of TOG, or Time On Ground. We also chew over Thomas Murphy’s future, give detailed instructions for using grimlock’s essential FFGenie program, then finish off with a new regular segment called Make Or Break, and our old regular Boys On The Bubble.

And we didn’t talk about Brad Miller at all!

#2: Round 5 Episode

Hi all,

The first episode was well received and so the second episode was recorded. After a little bit of a mishap in the middle of the recording, the episode is ready to go.

In this episode, Monty and Molly have a look at each others’ teams, comment on their leagues and the fact that Monty’s Subsccribe on iTunesEliteDre@mTe@mers league has hit the top of the rankings on both Dream Team and Super Coach.

Also we reviewed the co-writer of the Fanfooty blog, Tom Nightingale’s team and give advice on his side and possible places where he might look to make moves. You can check out his team here.

We then moved on and looked a little bit more in depth at a decision that I have this week in what strategy to take to replace Hawthorn’s Mark Williams. Paul gives his opinion and there is a fair discussion of the mid range Forwards.

At this point we have a slight technical difficulty but return strong with Monty and the very popular feature of the Boys on the Bubble as seen on the FF Blog.

Any comments, questions or just plain bagging us are welcome. Also, if you want your team reviewed by Monty, pass it on to us at coachesbox@gmail.com or leave a comment in the comments section.

Enjoy, and may all your players star this week!
