#28: Round 1 live on Talkshoe with turnofpower
This week all our audio problems have disappeared, and the live broadcast went off without a hitch with a big bunch of people in the live chat providing us with excellent feedback. We even had a live caller! Sometimes everything just comes up Milhouse.
We kick off with -the washup of the 70 minutes of madness, that witching hour (+10) between when the last teams were released on Thursday at 5pm and the 6.10pm start of the first game. VirtualSports’ servers were practically unreachable throughout, and we review all the news that came out of it, including some people getting their round 1 scores wiped and others getting the opportunity to remake their sides.
Then it’s onto the round review. We start with the Thursday games and mull over Chris Judd, Heath Scotland, Bryce Gibbs, Brett Deledio, Paul Stewart, Warren Tredrea, James Kelly, Jimmy Bartel and Ryan Gamble.
Moving onto Saturday we bring in Collingwood fan and FanFooty supporter turnofpower, a.k.a. Aaron, to talk about Anthony Rocca, Rhyce Shaw, Travis Cloke, Paul Medhurst, Chris Egan, Nathan J. Brown, John Anthony, Chris Dawes, Cameron Wood and Josh Fraser.
Onto other clubs: Daniel Gilmore, Matthew Pavlich, Luke McPharlin, David Mundy, Byron Schammer, Jarryn Geary, Kieran Jack, Jason Gram, Martin Mattner, Barry Hall, Adam Goodes, Craig Bird, Brett Jones, Mark Nicoski, Shannon Hurn, Daniel Bradshaw, Josh Hill, Brett Burton, Jason Porplyzia, Bernie Vince, Andrew McLeod and Brad Symes are all in the frame.
Then it’s Hawk Talk time! We know you all love it when we get impossibly excited about Hawthorn players! Clinton Young, Stuart Dew, Xavier Ellis, Travis Tuck, Cyril Rioli, Cameron Stokes, Tim Clarke and Zac Dawson are all giggled over.
The rest of the teams then follow, with Colin Garland, Cale Morton, Jeff White, Paul Johnson, Aaron Davey, Nathan Thompson, Scott D. Thompson (to be officially known in future as Scott DT!), Matthew Lloyd, Adam McPhee, Jobe Watson, Brent Stanton, Courtenay Dempsey, Sam Lonergan, Ricky Dyson and Bachar Houli all covered.
Finally, we gasbag about captain choices for the week, with Dean Cox the obvious standout. We compare Nick Riewoldt and Brad Johnson, warn you off the Cornes boys, and tell you to get on any Geelong midfielders if you’re lucky enough to own one of them.
Thanks to all who were in the chat, it was an awesome show and great fun to be a part of!
