#26: NAB Cup GF live on Talkshoe
Once again we saddle up on Talkshoe to deliver a live podcast. There are plenty of competitions newly launched this week including three on Friday: Yahoo!7 AFL Football Fantasy, Sportal Fantasy AFL and of course the official AFL Dream Team. We go through the pros and cons of each, and jaw about the politics surrounding the reduced prize pool for AFL DT.
From the last full week of games in the pre-season, we discuss Brent Prismall, David Wocjinski, Ryan Gamble, Kayne Pettifer, Mark Coughlan, Kurt Tippett, Brett Burton, Adam Hartlett, Matthew Kreuzer, Heath Shaw, Travis Cloke, Brent Stanton (and a comparison between Stanton and Daniel Cross), Chance Bateman, Cameron Stokes, Grant Birchall, Thomas Murphy, Cale Morton, John Meesen, Andrew Swallow, Hamish McIntosh, Steven Salopek, Jarryn Geary, David Armitage, Clinton Jones, Craig Bird, Kieren Jack, Scott Selwood, Andrew Embley, Beau Wilkes, Dean Cox, Beau Waters, Shannon Hurn and Josh Hill. M0nty asks Molly to choose between Ryan Griffen, Bryce Gibbs and Travis Boak, then they discuss Andrew McDougall’s possible new role at centre half back.
Finally, we each pick top 8s for 08. Molly chooses the Cats, Saints, Eagles and Hawks for his top four, then squeezes in Collingwood, Port, Freo and either Adelaide or Sydney. M0nty chooses, in no particular order: St Kilda, Geelong, West Coast, Hawthorn, Fremantle, Western Bulldogs and Brisbane.

Hi again fellas.
A much improved podcast this week (audio-wise). If you can get rid of “You are un-muted” line, that would improve it much more. But it was very listenable this week - and as usual, the content is top notch.
Despite the continued anti-Blues comments (maybe m0nty hates the Dons and Blues equally?) - a good show all round.
If you guys let us know when you’ll be recording your show, I may try and pop up in the text chat if that’s possible.
Cheers,
Luke

Monty,
What is your opinion of Brock McLean and Travis Johnstone for dreamteam selection?
March 16th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Hey Luke,
thanks for the nice comments. The reason for the “your un-muted” line is that for some strange reason when Monty is unmuted and I talk, my comments come back via his line. When you mute him it goes away. We tried a couple of times to check it out before the show, but actually hit a problem of connecting at all. We only got that sorted out on the night so hopefully this week we can nail the echo problem. Once that happens, we will advertise the shite out of the show early as we can and on every site that will let us!
Thanks for listening, and don’t forget to tell your friends about the show (unless of course you want an unfair advantage over them in your DT)!

Do you plan on doing another show before the season kicks off on Thursday?
Thanks

Yes Scumbag, probably a Wednesday one after the teams come out.

Great stuff guys, will be very interested to hear your opinions on who will make the cut from the extended benches. Think that is as important as anything else when making the last decisions on bench spots.

Boys,
Since you are both mad on dreamteam and both follow the hawks, what do you think of Travis Tuck? I am looking to pick him up as my last centre in the 22. Do you think he will get good game time in the early rounds of the year, let alone hold his spot in hawthorn’s 22, particularly with the likes of crawford, hodge and lewis out of the team during this time. I am hoping Tuck will average about 65 for me… What are your thoughts?
March 19th, 2008 at 7:27 am
Tuck’s in my team, doc.

Monty,
Is he in your 22? I was hoping for a bit more of a response from what I asked before…

Yep, he’s in my 22 in both DT and SC. He will indeed get good TOG in the first couple of rounds, enough to show his wares and lock him in if he performs. I don’t have a figure in mind, but 65 is at the top end of what I’d expect him to get. I’d be happy with 55-60.
