#35: Round 8, 2008 live on Talkshoe
M0nty has a very special message to all those sensitive AFL players at the start of this week’s show. We value our listeners, even the ones who might be hurt by our nasty comments!
We start off the round review with a bit of Premium DT talk: presuming that Dean Cox is a lock for the #1 pick in drafts, who would you pick out of Gary Ablett jnr, Jimmy Bartel and Joel Corey if you had the #2 pick? Then we discuss possible rookie elevation Robert Eddy, plus Scott Pendlebury and Travis Cloke. We compare Sharrod Wellingham and Trent Cotchin as downgrade targets in the centre this week. In the regular Hawk Talk segment we can’t help but gloat about Xavier Ellis, and we also touch on Stuart Dew and Cyril Rioli. Then it’s Kane Cornes, Robbie Gray, Joel Bowden, Harry Taylor, Paul Chapman (and his popularity in relation to Lance Franklin), Marc Murphy, Jonathan Brown, David Wirrpanda, Beau Waters, Nathan Bock, Andrew McLeod, Graham Johncock, Trent Hentschel, Kurt Tippett, Austin Wonaeamirri, Shane Valenti, Darren Jolly, Peter Everitt, Martin Mattner, Tadhg Kennelly, Nick Malceski, David Myers, Chris Tarrant, Kepler Bradley, Aaron Sandilands and Brad Johnson.
In our captain segment, it’s hard to go past the Geelong midfielders yet again this week, but Matthew Pavlich against the sore and sorry Carlton defence also looks tasty. Matthew Richardson toying with the kids from Windy Hill is a sure bet, and Dean Cox against the young Crows ruck division can’t be overlooked. Lance Franklin against Melbourne is a recipe for big points, while doubt hangs over the tagging jobs that will be assigned by the Kangaroos to Adam Cooney and Daniel Cross.
