#59: Pre-lockout 2009
Molly dragged himself from his hospital bed with a sebaceous cyst (of which m0nty makes merciless fun) to do this week’s vital episode!

We start by discussing possibly the most egregious example of the embracing by the media of fantasy secret-telling: the Herald-Sun Super Coach pre-season guide. After we whinge about that for a while, it’s time to talk about another Hun document: the NAB Challenge Super Coach points.
The only team we have on Wednesday is the Tigers v Blues game. A huge crop of five fantasy rookies have been picked, including Andrew L. Browne for the Tigers, who have named Ben Cousins in a forward pocket and Shane Edwards on a wing. The four BLues rookies are Jefferey Garlett, Aaron Joseph, Sam Jacobs and Mitch Robinson.
The other 14 teams will be released on Thursday at 5pm, but we already know some of the names that wil be bobbing up. Ryan Schoenmakers, Brendan Whitecross and Matthew Suckling are all possible ins for the injury-ravaged Hawks, while Geelong has ruled out playing kids and with David Johnson also injured, the solution to the Josh Hunt problem may be David Wojcinski.
For Collingwood, the question we all want to know the answer to is whether Dayne Beams and/or Steele Sidebottom will play early. For the Crows, a surprisingly good late injury report has cast further doubts over Jared Petrenko and Andy Otten, with Taylor Walker and Trent Hentschel still a worry as well.
It seems most of you don’t trust m0nty’s pumping up of Lachie Henderson, while he also asks Molly on whether it is still viable to pick Nick Naitanui a month before his long-awaited debut.
Shenanigans surround the fitness of Brendon Goddard’s hamstring, just another soft tissue injury down at Moorabbin. In Sydney, Patrick Veszpremi‘ 8-week injury leaves the forward line cupboard dangerously bare, leading to speculation on whether Ed Barlow or Adam Goodes will be drafted in to fill the gaping holes.
Dean Bailey has talked up Neville Jetta and Rohan Bail for round 1, while Mark Williams at Port is still relatively silent about Wade Thompson. Matthew Knights has, similar to Bailey, given Michael Hurley and David Zaharakis a pump up through the media, while Greg Broughton is one of the voluminous list of elevated rookies who are being scrutinised by fantasy coaches for bench spots. Finally, Josh Hill is run over for fantasy relevance in his post-breakout year.
After going through each game for captain choices for round 1, Molly makes a special announcement: the official Coaches Box DT league! The code is 140211… places are being snapped up fast!

The Audio is a bit off. Its something we need to work on week to week to get the Live show Audio and the Recording working well.

Just listened to my second coaches box (having started with show #58) and wanted to say thanks to you both for sharing your opinions, especially Molly dragging himself from hospital.
The audio is slightly off, however I still enjoyed the show.
Can’t wait for the season to start, good luck to all, and with the advice that’s out there it promises to be a very exciting and challenging season.

Thanks Other Dan. We will definitely work on the audio again next week. We thought we had it beat but it looks like we need to be sure about it every week

The drugs didn’t seem to affect your efforts Molly, nice work.
Is there another Coaches Box DT League? and possibly a Coaches Box SC League?

Thanks molly and m0nty for putting on the Coaches Box for another week. With lockout fast approaching and the VirtualSports websites lagging a considerable bit in the morning, I’m wary of a repeat of last year’s debacle. At least you guys have provided people with more than enough warning of what might happen if people try and edit their teams at the last mintue, so wecan only hope all goes well.
Best of luck with your fantasy football teams, hopefully I get uncapped next week and can watch the Coaches Box live next week.

started a second league here: 460028 (its in my sons profule but will take him out when you have some people there as he is 8 and his team looks a little weak in areas. He is enjoying it though).
