CB AFL Dream Team and Super Coach Podcast #64: Post Round 4, 2009
There’s no talk of chickens, Klansmen or Martians on this week’s episode, just hardcore fantasy football chat with Molly and m0nty. Oh, and maybe a donut or two.
We kick off without further ado with Jed Adcock’s bung ankle, and whether it is going to lead to boxfuls of donuts being eaten by fantasy coaches, as m0nty himself had to this week. Also on the Lions, Mitch Clark is canvassed as Brisbane’s last great hope for rucking peace. Jaxson Barham is BigFooty’s new darling but the boys sound a warning with Dayne Beams and possibly Steele Sidebottom eventually squeezing him out of the Pies 22. Josh Fraser and Darren Jolly have started like houses on fire in the ruck department, but if you haven’t got Dean Cox, is now a good time to shift across?
Meanwhile, the Blue half forwards had a day to forget in Sin City, which is leading owners of Ryan Houlihan and Mitch Robinson to wonder what the future holds, especially with Chris Yarran waiting in the wings. During Hawk Talk, m0nty defends his spruiking of Luke Hodge and Lance Franklin this week, with Molly talking up his boy Matt Suckling and bemoaning the poor week of Jarryd Roughead. Lest it be thought we would ignore the victors, the boys discuss what Hamish Hartlett’s near-term future holds, with Jason Davenport plyaing well in the SANFL and a host of Port kids waiting their turn to debut, not to mention the slightly disappointing Wade Thompson.
Things are all good for the Saints, which surprisingly includes Nick Riewoldt’s fantasy price, which leads one to wonder if he’s the best option to buy if you have Hayden Skipworth plus a pile of cash lying around. m0nty questions why anyone would want to trade Paul Hasleby at this stage, while Molly opines on Matthew Pavlich’s status as a premium forward in his new I-want-to-be-Richo-but-can’t role. Similarly, Molly defends his boy Scott Thompson against m0nty’s attacks on his gold premium fantasy mid status.
Another of Molly’s boys in Simon Hogan could be the beneficiary of an injury to Cameron Ling, while the imminent return of Aaron Edwards could mean some recasting of the roles of Ben Warren and Jack Ziebell, not to mention Drew Petrie. Scott Lucas keeps racking up the DT points despite not being able to kick straight, while David Hille and Troy Simmonds have ben playing so poorly that some are even thinking of selling them. Robin Nahas could be the big winner if Nathan G. Brown is scapegoated for Richmond’s woes. Molly cries some more about not going with his heart and buying Aaron Davey. Mitchell Brown is assessed for startability this week opposed to all the other usual suspects among the forward rookies. Finally, Daniel Giansiracusa is considered as another potential Skippy upgrade target.
