CB AFL Dream Team and Super Coach Podcast #66: Post Round 6, 2009
Plenty of fantasy news this week, with injuries of all types and big decisions for coaches to make… if only we could make four or five trades per round!
The first subject of conversation is, inevitably, Gary Ablett jnr and whether to trade him or not. Molly sounds off on this season-defining issue, and m0nty has his say. The situation is complicated by injury clouds hanging over Dayne Beams and Hamish Hartlett, not to mention all the other injuries from round 6!
Back to the regular round review, and we start with Leigh Harding and Levi Greenwood from the Friday night game, as well as Brent Macaffer. In a severely curtailed Hawk Talk this week Brad Sewell is the only Hawthorn player discussed, while m0nty asks whether Andrew Carrazzo is a forward tagger to be feared in future.
Adam Cockie is part of many coaches’ plans for double trades but there is a word of warning to be sounded about this move, while most coaches are closely watching Mitchell Brown for signs of topping his ride on the rollercoaster. For the Dockers, Byron Schammer will get another extra load of responsibility with injuries to team mates Rhys Palmer and Ryan Crowley.
Jonathan Brown scored his first big ton of the year against the Lions, but at the other end of the Gabba Scott Lucas turned in a performance bad enough to get him dropped this week, probably for Jay Neagle. Molly also gives his weekly Courtenay Dempsey report.
Steven Salopek has racked up five DT tons in a row, while Bernie Vince has three big tons of his own to boast about in an up-and-down season. Taylor Walker is on the downward slide of his rollercoaster journey, while Ryan O’Keefe may be on the upswing of his. Mark Coughlan is another figuring prominently in trade talks this week.
At Melbourne, John Meesen is the third ruckman to fall victim to a foot injury, this one ending his season, leaving those who sold David Hille to get him with tears streaming down their faces. Jimmy Bartel, Joel Corey, Corey Enright and Andrew Mackie are combed over by the boys for value in the absence of the Son of God. To round out the review, m0nty attacks almost the entire Bulldog list, while Sam Fisher is looking proppy, but Farren Ray and Zac Dawson are proving yet again that recycled players are worth keeping an eye on for fantasy purposes.
For the first time this year we have a real captains segment to get through… and it’s not just a case of set Jimmy and forget! The 2009 launch of Premium Dream Team piques some interest, and then the boys mull over the media furore over the cease & desist letter that the AFL sent to Contested Footy this week. Finally, m0nty hints that the Life liftout in the Sunday Age might be worth a squizz this weekend.

Disagree with your assessment on Collingwood v St Kilda. I expect Collingwood will do a Collingwood circa 2008 v Geelong on St Kilda this week.
(confusing but I know what I mean).

I understand what your saying and I hope your right, would be great for the AFL Season! Its hard to pick Collingwood, they are up and down like the proverbial!

Great show guys as always.
One request. Can we have more of Molly blowing his nose into the mike next week please?
Also, why no love for Myke Pyke m0nty?
You’d love him if he was wearing brown and yellow I’ll bet.

Good to hear mate. Tell your friends (unless you want to thrash them in the leagues. Or should that be too tell them if you want to thrash them in the leagues? hmm…..Time will tell)
