CB AFL Dream Team and Super Coach Podcast #75: Post Round 16, 2009
After missing a week, the boys are keen to get stuck into round 16, including an irrepressibly long Hawk Talk!
The round review starts with Michael Hurley, then m0nty launches into a discussion about taggers and how big they have become in fantasy as pointscoring options, with Matthew Boyd and Bryce Gibbs among those mentioned.
Jesse White is m0nty’s boy but he tries not to gloat and instead focus on the implications of this year’s ruck attrition on #3 and #4 ruck slots for 2010. Tom Hawkins, who went into the ruck himself this week, is assessed as a Patrick Ryder style improver.
Jack Grimes has a back injury - surprise! Molly answers the question of whether Dane Swan has now replaced Gary Ablett jnr as the premier fantasy midfielder.
Then it’s time for long-overdue Hawk Talk, and this week it’s a doozy. Luke Hodge, Jordan Lewis and Ryan Schoenmakers are the Hawthorn players most often mentioned.
Hayden Ballantyne has had a disappointing debut month in a terrible Freo side, while Bradd Dalziell has resumed scoring DT tons as if he’s been playing all season. Jason Davenport earned a Superman tag in Q1 of this week’s game agaisnt the Eagles and surprisingly didn’t immediately injure himself.
m0nty has some criticism for Chris Masten and Brad Ebert, and then asks Molly whether Richmond can truly build their future forward line around Mitch Morton and Jack Riewoldt with them both scoring DT tons like they did against North. Mentioning Drew Petrie draws the boys into a long discussion of whom would be the best replacement for Dean Cox, with half a dozen prospects mulled over. Zac Dawson is the template for the perfect #9 fantasy back, while m0nty questions the Crows’ need for Brett Burton.
