CB AFL Dream Team and Super Coach Podcast #77: Post Round 18, 2009
The big news of another huge week in football is, of course, that Brett Potato wants out of the Dockers. Wait, what?
No seriously, he does. Anyway, onto the round review, where Liam Anthony is this year’s Bradd Dalziell. Andrew Walker, Mitch Robinson and Chris Yarran are assessed for 2010, which is a theme of not only this show but many shows to come given m0nty’s given up on ‘09.
Speaking of which, Jarrad Grant is a strong candidate for a forward bench spot in ‘10 already, with tall forward team mates Jarrad Boumann and Malcolm Lynch also chances. Greg Broughton is an example of a player type that we should be taking a lot more notice of, Molly agrees.
Molly then rates the top three replacements for perennially injured Paul Chapman. m0nty wonders why it took so long for Brent Reilly to hit a vein of ton-scoring form.
Darren Jolly had a poor one against St Kilda, which he is wont to do. m0nty tries valiantly to make a case for Adam Schneider having future upside. Nick Maxwell managed to shut down Jonathan Brown in the second half on Saturday night, but both players are shaping up as fantasy premiums worth picking in Round 1 next year.
Austin Wonaeamirri is another cheap forward option for next year, while many coaches thought there was still improvement left in Brett Deledio, to their chagrin. The boys then go through the fast-dwindling fantasy relevance of the Power brothers: Shaun Burgoyne and Peter Burgoyne, plus Kane Cornes and Chad Cornes.
In Hawk Talk, Molly gives his thoughts on Liam Shiels, then discusses whether Ryan Schoenmakers will replace Thomas Murphy in Hawthorn’s best 22 next season, and where Brendan Whitecross and Beau Dowler fit into the backline if every Hawk is fit.
Finally, Mark LeCras played like a midfielder on the weekend but Molly sounds a warning for his future prospects, and also gives Nathan Lovett-Murray a rap on the knuckles.
