CB AFL Dream Team and Super Coach Podcast #80: Post Round 21, 2009
This week is all about looking towards 2010, which will be the last year before the 17th and 18th AFL teams start messing with fantasy…
In the round review, we start with Rising Star smokie Callan Ward, then discuss fantasy back premiums Corey Enright and Jarrad Waite. Tom Scully is canvassed as next year’s Daniel Rich fantasy rookie keeper, despite the inevitable price premium from going to Melbourne with the #1 draft pick.
Still on the backs, Michael Doughty and Shannon Hurn are part of the new breed of defenders who are following their forward opponents into the midfield, which could also be the fate of youngsters like Scott Selwood and Nathan Krakouer.
Justin Sherman and Daniel Jackson were two mid-price improvers in the midfield this year, so the boys comb over their years for clues as to who will do the same in ‘10.
In Hawk Talk, Molly discusses where Beau Dowler is best placed in the Hawthorn best 22, if at all. Matt Maguire was supplanted by Zac Dawson but may be the 2010 version of Dawson in fantasy terms as a possible rookie-priced #9 back.
Andrew Swallow and John Anthony topped the fantasy numbers for their respective teams in round 21, though Ryan O’Keefe has dropped off slightly after a scintillating middle of the year.
Finally, Nick Suban is an example of the perfect second emergency fantasy player, while Brent Stanton may be the hare to Jobe Watson’s tortoise.
There was also a full captains analysis.
