CB AFL Dream Team and Super Coach Podcast #82: Preseason 2010
Molly and m0nty are back on the horse (no, not that one) after a four-month preseason, flying on the track and training the house down.
(Update: Alternative MP3 with audio evened out.)
(Little audio recorders note: We had the normal start of the year, how the heck did we setup the audio last year problem. We did work on it, but it seems I (Molly) forgot one little setting and as a result, my audio is much softer then Monty’s. After the show and seeing this, I was able to find the issue and should be fixed for next show. This one should be still listenable even if the audio is a tad uneven. Sorry for the inconvenience).
Dream Team and Supercoach opened on February 1 this year, and it seems the fantasy season is getting as long as the AFL one these days. This year saw the “magic number” decrease unexpectedly, making the game “easier” but choices no less hard. The rule change to allow players with dual positions to be substituted without burning a trade has caused much discussion, and the boys weigh in with their takes.
Then it’s onto a very lengthy team-by-team discussion of fantasy prospects for 2010. We go by the team projections published on the FanFooty blog, to wit:
Projections 1/4: Richmond, Carlton, Geelong, Essendon
Projections 2/4: Melbourne, Hawthorn, Brisbane, West Coast
Projections 3/4: Sydney, St Kilda, Port Adelaide, North Melbourne
Projections 4/4: Western Bulldogs, Collingwood, Fremantle, Adelaide

Did I miss you talking about Clinton Young? $266k in Supercoach seems cheapish if he’s fit.

Didn’t bring him up last night. DT Talk guys apparently talked to Hodgy and word is that he is going to have an up hill battle to get in the side from his injury. I agree he is cheap if he got back to past form.

Great listen and good to see you guys back.
On Uniques, they can be great but they can also backfire which can really put you behind.
Well said Molly, I’m not sure how useful the dual position rule will be. If someone is dual position I would always put them in the lower scoring position.
I am on Tippett as second ruck, and now that i heard M0nty doesn’t like him it has me more convinced that he will be good. I certainly agree though m0nty to consider the downgrade targets that are dual positions.
